Learning a New and Fun Technique

This card was a lot of fun to make. I used three different colors of ink and rubbed them across the card stock (in a circular motion) to create the background. I then used a die cut to create the black flowers. I tore white card stock out for the top and bottom and added 3-D foam tape to give my card some dimension. I used another die cut for the boarders (on both the black and white card stock. I love learning new techniques.

I got the idea for this card from a post on Instagram by @sglass1908. When I read her post she talked about another post on Instagram by @ginakdesigns. All three cards are a little bit different but all beautiful.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. These cards were a lot of fun to make. I never thought I would enjoy coloring. Anyhow, they are part of a kit from Simon Says Stamps.

Squishy Hugs for You!

This peep die-cut by Simon Says Stamp is a favorite of mine. It's called MY KIND OF PEEP. I'm so glad I bought it. I'll be making peep cards every Easter.

I used distressed inks to create the background paper. I'm loving distressed inks right now.

What's Old is New Again

This cute bunny stamp-set is five years old (March 2011 Stamp of the Month) but too cute to not use. Some stamp-sets are keepers and this is one of them.

Spinner Card Fun

This cute paper and peep dies are from Simon Says Stamps. I used them to make this cute spinner card. The idea came from Shari Carroll. This was my first spinner card. I'll have to make more of them now that I know how.

Thinking of You....Shelly.

I made this card for my cousin Shelly. Her mother (Aunt Norma to me) passed away unexpectedly this past Friday. She had a massive heart attack. When I woke up Saturday and heard the news I was sad and made this card...while crying.

I wasn't expecting Aunt Norma to die yet. She seemed healthy. Just the week before she posted a picture of herself playing the piano in a down town city center (you can see it below). My father was the unhealthy sibling. He has COPD and is on oxygen and has been for several years now. I expected him to pass before her.

I'm going to make a quick trip to Arizona to attend her funeral today. It will be a sad day. And I will be thinking of my cousin Shelly this next year as it won't be easy for her. Her mother was her best friend. Shelly is tough so I know she will survive. After all she beat breast cancer (just like her mom).

Rest in Peace my beautiful aunt Norma. I love you and know I will see you again one day. Have fun in heaven with your sister Annette (and her daughter, my cousin Laurel) and your Mom and Dad.

Hello...it's Workshop Time

Card workshop on Tuesday (from 5-9 pm). The cost is $15. We will be making the 6 cards (shown below) using the March Stamp of the Month called Sunshine Birdies.

I will show you how to watercolor, use makers (yes their are tricks to blending) and using distressed inks to look like water coloring. I cannot wait to share the things I have learned.

Everyone who attends will get two ShinHan Touch Twin Markers to take home (or they can choose two to order). The markers retail at $5.95 each so this workshop is a great deal.

If you are unable to attend my workshop but still want to make these cards let me know and I will work something out for you.

I love the new Penelope Paper Pack. It goes perfectly with the Spring Critters stamp set.

Excited for my trip to Greece

This summer I will be going to Greece. It's been two years since I have been out of the country so I'm excited to go overseas again. The best thing about my trip is my children, best friend, sister, and niece will all be joining me. My other friend organized the trip and their is a total of 12 people going.

Here is my first scrapbook layout I've done for Greece. It was a quick and easy one to put together.

I copied it (sort-of) from Close to my Heart's art team. They posted the layout (below) on their blog a few weeks ago.

I've only completed one layout from my Italy trip which is sad. You can see it below. I took so many photos while in Italy that I was overwhelmed. I didn't even look at all of the photos until recently. I plan to work hard this year to get both trips scarpbooked so my children and I can enjoy them.

I started researching Greece. I want to read up on it so I'm familiar with the places we will be seeing while there. I didn't do that before Italy and regretted it. Doing the research has me even more excited to go. Summer can't get here fast enough.

Be sure to follow my blog to see the other layouts and pictures from both trips (once I complete them).

Sunshine Birdies

I have been having a lot of fun with Close to my Heart's March Stamp of the Month called Sunshine Birdies. I decided to have a card workshop next week using this stamp set. Everyone will make 6 cards (like the ones below). I will be showing how to color and blend using ShinHan Touch Twin Markers, painting with watercolors and even using distressed inks. Everyone will get to select 2 markers to take with them at the end of the workshop. Each marker is valued at $5.95. It should be fun!

Don't you just love how bright and beautiful these cards are? The stamp set is only available until March 31. It's one you will be able to enjoy for a long time. Get it while you can.

Share the Love

I created this cute card tonight after watching a YouTube video by Yana Smkula.

I had a lot of fun creating it and plan to make a few more cards using the same water coloring technique. The yellow and pink colors remind me of Spring.

Here is Yana Smakula's beautiful card.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Is the Eastern White Pine Tree White

December is the last month to get your hands on Close To My Heart's White Pines Paper Packet (X7200B), matching Complements (X7200C) and Assortment (Z3077). You will be able to create beautiful Christmas layouts and cards using these fun items.

You can also order the White Pines Workshop on the Go (WOTG) which includes the Paper Packet, Complements, Red Enamel Gems, four additional Cardstock Sheets and a fun matching Stamp Set for $29.95 USD. It is item #G1098.

Below are the two layouts I created using White Pines WOTG.

I love how this first layout turned out and cannot wait to find  some Christmas pictures to add to it. I used the Cricut Artistry Cartridge to create all the fun shapes. It really adds a lot.

The next layout is below. I added the White Pines Complements and more photo mats on the right side.

Pinups strobes, commonly known as the Eastern White Pine is not white. The tree is known to the Native American Haudenosaunee as the Tree of Peace. It is the provincial tree of Ontario, Canada and the state tree of Maine and Michigan, United States. The pine cone and tassel is the state flower of Maine.

Why is it called white pine? Well, freshly cut eastern white pine is creamy white (or a pale straw color) but after it has aged it is a deep rich golden tan.

Order your White Pines Paper Pack by going to my web-site at www.yvonne.ctmh.com today. I will post more layouts and cards using this White Pines Paper Packet during December so watch for it.
